Things to Do at Haven Hopton
Looking after excited children in a new environment as a single parent can sometimes be daunting but Haven offers such a wide range of activities and entertainment during the day and evening, that you won’t be alone for long!
There are plenty of scheduled activites at Haven Hopton that your children will love. Many of them are free and others are very affordable. Better still, you can buy activity bundles in packs of 12 or 24 when you buy your Funworks passes. You won’t be the only single parent on holiday and most people are very chatty and friendly.
The Haven staff are excellent and work really hard to make everyone feel very welcome and get involved if they want to. If you download the Haven what’s on app from the Apple or Andriod store, or pick up a paper copy from reception, you can plan your children’s activities ahead of your stay.
There’s something for everyone, from archery, football coaching, swimming lessons, sensory mornings, make a mess sessions and Go Tots and other evening entertainment that is open to families with children. If you have a very young child, you can always take the pushchair with you so you and older children can have fun whilst the smaller ones catch some Zzzzzs.
Food – What’s on Site?
Firstly, there’s a fantasticly well-stocked shop on site that sells just about everything you’ll need. Alternatively, you could arrange for one of the larger supermarkets to deliver your shop directly to you caravan’s door. Unlike booking directly with Haven, you will know exactly which caravan you will be staying in before you arrive so can plan ahead if you wish to self-cater. All of our caravans are fully equipped for cooking meals and some even have added extras such as slow cookers, steamers and air fryers available to use during your stay.
If you prefer to dine out, there are lots of take-away places on site. There are two burger vans and the best one is Terry and Kim’s van (down by Bubbles Amusements). Kim even personally cooks superb home-cooked meals such as steak and chips, chilli and cottage pie – ask for a menu! There is a chip shop on site and a chinese takeaway, although we would personally recommend a little drive if you want really, really good fish and chips or Chinese. The New China just up the road in Corton will deliver directly to your caravan and PJ’s Fish and Chips in Gorleston are amazing!
If you’re a fan of pizza, there’s a Pappa Johns on site that will also deliver to your caravan but expect a 30-60 minute wait during busy periods. Just around the corner, there is the Turnstone public house that welcomes children. They offer a wide range of enjoyable meals. If carvery is more your thing, then try the Grayling in Yarmouth or The Wherry in Oulton Broad. If you travel a little further, Castle Carvery in Caister is definitely worth a visit and they have a great soft play area too.
Share the Cost and Invite Friends or Family Members
Most caravans are 6 or 8 berth meaning there’s plenty of room to invite extended family members or perhaps a close friend with children too.
Providing you don’t exceed the maximum occupancy, there’s no reason why you can’t share your Haven adventure with your nearest and dearest. Sharing your holiday is another great way to ensure you have some adult company, whilst having loads of fun with the children.
If you don’t want to share your holiday, be assured your children will soon find friends on park, meaning you will too! Whilst they’re off playing with their new buddies, it’s the perfect time for you to mingle with other parents and enjoy some adult conversation.
